Some information about UV tanning from Health Canada:

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation comes from natural sources (the sun) and artificial sources like tanning equipment.

Some uses of UV include:

  • building a base tan
  • treating various skin conditions
  • helps form vitamin D3 in our bodies

But as with all forms of UV tanning, overexposure to UV for a prolonged period of time to the point of burning has been linked to the following negative health effects:

  • sunburns
  • premature skin aging
  • eye problems
  • weakening of the immune system

Because every staff member at Beaches N’ Dreams has been Smart Tan Certified, we too recognize that dangers come due to overexposure to UV, like sunburns.  Smart-Tan-CertifiedWe take into consideration your tanning history, current degree of melanin and the use of proper protective eyewear so you can experience the benefits of UV tanning and reduce the risk of over exposure.  Because the lotions that we use in our salon are intended to enhance the melanin production in your skin, they do not have an SPF component (unless otherwise specified) but many indoor lotions are also formulated for outdoor use as they hydrate and nourish the skin.

Our goal is to help you experience the benefits of UV tanning and take precautions to avoid overexposure.
